#1 The One After Vegas: Aired Thursday, September 23, 1999

Rachel and Ross decide to get an annulment, but Ross is lying when he tells Rachel he's taken care of it. Joey and Phoebe drive Phoebe's cab back from Vegas and Joey sleeps through most of the trip, so a bitter Phoebe hangs out with a hitch-hiker. Monica and Chandler both realize that they don't want to be married, although they still love each other. They decide to let fate decide, and find themselves surrounded by matrimonial signs, but end up deciding to move in together, only to have the door jam between them.

Phoebe counsels Ross on ending his third marriage, and Ross doesn't tell Rachel that their marriage isn't already annulled. Monica and Chandler tell Rachel and Joey about the fact that they're moving into together.

Phoebe keeps telling Ross that he's still in love with Rachel, but he keeps denying it. Rachel is looking for a place to live, and Ross wants her to move in with him. Joey is looking for a cute female roommate. Monica and Chandler almost don't move in together when they fight over what to do with the spare bedroom and where Chandler's lounge chair is going to go.

#4 The One Where Joey Loses His Insurance: Aired Thursday, October 14, 1999

As Rachel is packing to move, she packs a set of candle-sticks that she thinks she bought, but Monica disagrees. They fight over them until they each just decide to take one. Ross gets a temporary job lecturing at NYU, and he's so nervous that he finds himself lecturing in a British accent. He tries to phase the accent out, but blatantly gets busted by his students. He's in the process of making amends when Rachel bursts into the lecture hall yelling at him because she just picked up his phone when it rang and spoke to Ross's divorce lawyer who told her that Ross was still married. Phoebe's psychic tells her she's going to die this week, and Phoebe prepares herself, but then her psychic dies instead. Joey finds out that he lost his health insurance from the Screen Actors Guild because he didn't work enough this year. His agents sets up some auditions, and Joey works out in preparation and gets a hernia. He refuses to pay hospital bills, so he goes to his auditions with the hernia, and blows them all except for the one for a dying man. He successfully plays the dying man, despite trouble from a kid actor who won't cry, and gets his insurance back.

#5 The One With Joey's Porsche: Aired Thursday, October 21, 1999

Rachel is furious that Ross didn't get their annulment like he said they did. She decides to file the papers herself, and claims that Ross is mentally unbalanced, addicted to IV drugs, gay, and unable to consummate the marriage. The judge doesn't grant the annulment, so Ross gets them divorce papers. While signing the papers, Rachel tells Ross that she now remembers that getting married in Vegas was her idea, and they part friends. Joey finds the keys to a Porsche, and finds that pretending it's his is a really great way to meet people... particularly women. When the owner of the Porsche returns for his car, Joey decides to wear Porsche gear to make people think he's a Porsche owner. He even covers cardboard boxes with a car cover and tells people that it's his Porsche. Phoebe gets her brother's triplets for the day, and is scared to take care of them by herself, so Monica and Chandler help her. Chandler swallows a piece of a toy and it gets lodged in his throat, so Monica takes him to the ER. Phoebe has a tough time with the kids, but ends up being able to take care of them... even though she destroys Monica's apartment in the process. Now that Rachel doesn't feel comfortable moving in with Ross, and Phoebe's roommate is out of town until December 26th, Rachel decides to move in with Phoebe.

#6 The One on the Last Night: Aired Thursday, November 4, 1999

Monica helps Rachel move out, and they end up remembering all the bad experiences they had as roommates. Chandler is worried about how Joey is going to pay the bills after he moves out.

#7 The One Where Phoebe Runs: Aired Thursday, November 11, 1999

Rachel can't stand to run with Phoebe because Phoebe looks like such an idiot when she runs. Phoebe explains that she runs like she did when she was a kid, 'cause it's more fun that way, and Rachel realizes she's right. Joey gets a sexy new roommate named Janine who's a dancer from Australia, and tries desperately not to flirt with her, but thinks she's attracted to him anyway. Chandler and Ross give Joey advice on how to repel women, but then Joey finds out that Janine really isn't attracted to him and he's horrified. Chandler moves in with Monica and tries to clean the place as a favor. Then, with a pointer from Ross, he realizes that she'll freak if he disturbs how her apartment is set up, so he desperately tries to put everything back exactly the way it was. It turns out Monica is totally reasonable about the whole thing and Chandler freaked out for no reason.

#10 The One with the Routine: Aired Thursday, December 16, 1999

Janine invites Joey, Monica and Ross to a the dance-segment taping of Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve. Joey plots to kiss Janine at fake-midnight, but the scene is cut before he gets the chance. When they get home, Janine re-enacts the count-down and kisses him. Monica and Ross watch Dick Clark every year, and are really excited to be on the show. In order to get camera-time, they re-enact a routine they did together in eighth grade, but it only gets them on the bloopers reel. Phoebe and Rachel convince Chandler to help them look for their Christmas presents from Monica, but when they finally find them, Chandler convinces them to not to open them.

#11 The One with the Apothecary Table: Aired Thursday, January 6, 2000

Rachel buys a table from Pottery Barn, and then finds out that Phoebe hates mass-produced furniture. She makes up a story about buying the antique table at a flea market, and then proceeds to buy out like all of Pottery Barn, making up flea market stories for each piece. Phoebe loves it all, and then sees her living room in the window of a Pottery Barn store. She's horrified, but still loves the stuff and has to go in and buy a lamp. Joey and Janine become a couple and start double-dating with Monica and Chandler, but Janine keeps saying how awful Monica and Chandler are. Janine keeps pretending to be friendly, and then letting loose with venom later. Finally, Joey has to break up with her and she moves out.

Ross and Chandler argue over authorship of a joke that Ross gets published in Playboy. Phoebe offends Monica by saying she'd rather hypothetically date Rachel and that Monica is high-maintenance. Joey is having trouble paying bills now that Janine has moved out, so he starts working at the coffee shop even though he's ashamed of it.

Rachel's spoiled little sister comes to town after getting cut off by their father and goes on a date with Ross. Rachel is incredibly upset by this even though she tries to play it cool. Joey keeps giving away food to pretty customers at the coffeehouse. Monica refuses to admit she's sick, and keeps wanting to have sex with Chandler to prove that she's well, but Chandler doesn't want to have sex with a sick person. She finally seduces him with vapor rub.

#14 The One Where Chandler Can't Cry: Aired Thursday, February 10, 2000

Rachel finally admits to Ross that it bothers her that he's dating her sister, and he breaks things off with Jill. Jill fights with Rachel over Ross, and tries to seduce Ross to get back at Rachel, but Ross says no to her so that someday he may be able to get back together with Rachel. Phoebe finds out that her twin sister Ursula has been doing porn films and using Phoebe's name. Monica is upset when she realizes that Chandler is incapable of crying.

#15 The One That Could Have Been: Aired Thursday, February 17, 2000

We get to see what the Friends' lives would be like if Rachel had married Barry, Ross's wife Carol hadn't figured out she was gay, Joey hadn't lost his job as Dr. Drake Ramoray on "Days of Our Lives," Monica was still fat, Phoebe had taken a job offer as a stock broker, and Chandler had had the guts to quit his job and become a comedy writer. Joey is rich and famous, and when Rachel is introduced to him she considers having an affair with him. Rachel finds out Barry is cheating on her. Phoebe is a fast-talking rude chain-smoker who has two heart attacks and gets fired from her job. Chandler is poor and and has to get a job as Joey's assistant to make money. Monica is a virgin and is dating a boring doctor, but ends up losing her virginity to Chandler who expresses how much he cares for her and gets her to dump the doctor. Ross is having marital problems, and suggests to his wife that they spice up their sex life. She jumps at his idea of a threesome, and after the experience, which wasn't much for Ross, he finally realizes that she's gay.

#16 The One with the Unagi: Aired Thursday, February 24, 2000

Chandler and Monica are celebrating Valentine's Day a couple weeks late, and have agreed to MAKE each other presents rather than buy them. Of course, they both forget until the last minute. Chandler finds an old mix tape that he gives to Monica, while Monica gives Chandler a sock-bunny that Phoebe actually made. Monica is easily busted, and she feels so bad that she gave Chandler a lousy fake gift and Chandler went to the trouble of making her a mix tape that she cooks him his favorite meals and gives him his choice in the bedroom as well. Chandler is enjoying all the extra attention, until they're dancing to a song on the mix tape and Janice, Chandler's ex, breaks in, singing along, and saying how much she loves Chandler. Chandler's in big trouble. Joey needs some extra cash, and remembers making money volunteering for medical studies, so decides to try it again. The only study open is one for identical twins, so Chandler picks up a guy at an audition and tries to teach him to be his identical twin. Of course, the doctors don't fall for it. Phoebe and Rachel are bragging about how they can defend themselves, and Ross says they don't know the first thing about it. So Ross ambushes them in the hallway and scares them. They retaliate by ambushing him in his apartment and making him scream like a girl. He tries to re-retaliate by ambushing them in their apartment, but they see him and pin him. He then tries scaring them on the street later, but ends up attacking a blonde and a brunette that he doesn't know.

#17 The One Where Ross Dates a Student: Aired Thursday, March 9, 2000

Ross starts dating one of his students even though he believes it's frowned upon. When he finds out it's actually against the rules and he could get fired for it, he has trouble breaking off the relationship. There is a fire at Phoebe and Rachel's place and they need to stay with friends due to the damage. Since Phoebe believes it was her candles that set the fire, she lets Rachel stay at comfy hotel-Monica while Phoebe stays with Joey and a bad smell. When it turns out that it was Rachel's hair-iron that set the blaze, they switch apartments, only it turns out that Monica's analness drives Phoebe nuts while Rachel has fun being a slob with Joey. Joey begs Chandler to get in touch Dana, an old friend from college, so he can get an audition for the Al Pacino film that she's directing. Chandler hasn't talked to her in ten years, and so feels awkward about asking a favor, but does get back in touch with her. After they talk on the phone, go out for coffee, and go to dinner, Dana thinks Chandler has a crush on her. She feels badly for hurting him by not being interested in return, and wants to make up for it somehow, so he convinces her to let his friend Joey audition for her film.

Phoebe competes with Monica and Chandler to see who can find the best date for Rachel for a benefit ball. Rachel ends up alone because her crazed friends keep driving away all her potential dates. Joey schemes to get one of his friends to pay for a new refrigerator when his breaks. Ross is nervous when his college-student girlfriend, Elizabeth, decides to go to Daytona Beach for spring break.

Ross meets Elizabeth's father, Paul, who hates him on sight. It doesn't help when Rachel hooks up with Paul, the foursome go out for dinner, and Rachel lets Ross's bad marriage history slip. Phoebe is writing a book on relationship don'ts, and is driving Monica and Chandler nuts by documenting their life. Joey's new job as the star of his own series is in danger when he meets the guy who created his co-star, the robot, and pisses him off. The only way he can save his job is to teach the robot-guy how to charm women.

Ross goes away for the weekend with Liz and gets busted by her father. Joey tries to get his picture back up on the wall at his local dry-cleaner's. Monica puts her name down at a museum for her future wedding.

#23 The One with the Proposal: Aired Thursday, May 18, 2000

Chandler tells everyone except Monica that he's preparing to propose, and then takes Monica out for dinner to do the deed. They run into Richard and Chandler loses his opportunity. All of their friends almost give it away, not knowing that Chandler wasn't able to propose, and so Chandler decides to disparage marriage in order to throw Monica off the scent. Meanwhile, Richard visits Monica at work and tells her that he still loves her and wants to marry her and have children with her. Monica begins to think seriously about Richard's offer as Chandler says worse and worse things about the institution of marriage. Luckily, Monica doesn't make any rash decisions, and she and Chandler end up getting engaged. Ross realizes that Elizabeth is too immature for him and breaks up with her. Rachel and Phoebe decide that Ross and Joey should be their back-up husbands if they're not married by the age of 40.
